Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced R&D Manager with a strong background in rubber and polymer industries to lead the development and innovation of new products and technologies. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge in polymer science, rubber compounding, and process optimization. The R&D Manager will be responsible for leading a team of scientists and engineers, driving product innovation, improving existing formulations, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. R&D Leadership and Management:
• Lead and manage R&D projects from conception through development and commercialization.
• Supervise and mentor a team of R&D engineers, chemists, and technicians.
• Drive innovation by identifying emerging trends and new technologies in rubber and polymer science.
• Develop strategic research plans to enhance product performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
2. Product Development:
• Oversee the formulation and testing of new rubber and polymer products.
• Ensure successful scale-up of new materials from lab to production.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and marketing, to align product development with customer needs and market demands.
• Conduct failure analysis and implement product improvements.
3. Process Optimization:
• Identify and implement process improvements to optimize material properties, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to resolve technical challenges related to production.
4. Testing and Quality Control:
• Oversee the development and validation of testing methods for rubber and polymer materials.
• Ensure that all products meet industry standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.) and regulatory requirements.
5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
• Work closely with suppliers, vendors, and external partners to source new raw materials and stay updated on material advancements.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and translate them into innovative solutions.
6. Budgeting and Resource Management:
• Develop and manage the R&D budget, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated to meet project goals.
• Ensure efficient use of laboratory and equipment resources.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Polymer Science, Rubber Technologist or a related field. PhD preferred.
• Experience:
• 10+ years of relevant experience in the rubber or polymer industry.
• Proven track record of leading R&D projects and successfully launching new products in the market.
• Strong experience in polymer chemistry, rubber formulation, and elastomer technologies.
• Technical Skills:
• In-depth knowledge of polymer compounding, rubber processing, and material testing.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO, ASTM, and regulatory frameworks.
• Proficiency with statistical analysis, simulation software, and other relevant tools (e.g., Minitab, MATLAB, etc.).
• Leadership and Soft Skills:
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and innovation mindset.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
